The Taigei-class submarine, successor to the Soryu-class, saw its first ship, the Taigei, commissioned in March 2022.
While its exterior resembles the Soryu-class, it features high-capacity, high-output lithium-ion batteries, significantly enhancing its underwater performance. The fourth ship, Raigei, was launched in October 2023 and is scheduled for commissioning in March 2025.

Differences from the Soryu-class, such as the widened upper hull and sail base, are accurately reproduced, with parts designed for easy assembly and painting.
Includes decals for ship numbers and names: SS-516 Raigei and SS-517 (to be named in fall 2024).
