The Type 87 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun was formalized by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in 1987. One Oerlikon 35mm KDA anti-aircraft gun is mounted on each side of the turret, and an enemy search/tracking radar is mounted on the upper surface of the rear part of the turret, providing excellent shooting capability. The undercarriage uses the body of the Type 74 tank, and has a high degree of mobility.
This model kit from Pit-Road includes both an early-type and late-type of smoke grenade launcher; decals from the 2nd Anti-Aircraft Special Battalion 3rd Anti-Aircraft squadron are included, as are markings for six other units.
