Platz 1:144
The Typhoon is a fourth-generation fighter developed by Eurofighter. Its first successful flight was in 1994; production started in 2003, and deployment to the Royal Air Force began in 2007. It features a delta-wing airframe design equipped with a canard next to the cockpit, and 70% of the airframe is made of carbon fiber and CFRP to reduce weight. It's equipped with two Eurojet EJ200 turbofan engines. The combination with a lightweight airframe provides excellent acceleration performance, and furthermore, it enables supersonic cruising without using afterburners. Its fixed armament features the Mauser BK-27, and it also has 13 weapon-loading stations and can carry up to 6,500kg of various missiles. It operates in the UK, Italy, Spain and Germany. In September 2022, a total of 13 Luftwaffe aircraft, including this special commemorative painted Typhoon, flew in for joint training with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
This model kit from Platz reproduces the single-seat type of Eurofighter Typhoon, with plastic parts made by F-Toys that are easy to assemble. Its distinctive style equipped with canards is realistically reproduced; decals by Cartograf are included for the specially painted aircraft that was personally operated by the Luftwaffe's top commander-in-chief.
