Introduced by Lord Mountbatten very early in the war, use of Mountbatten pink was gently dissuaded from 1942 onwards. It was clear to those responsible for camouflage that Mountbatten Pink was weaker than other shades available, but no-one wished to cause offence to Lord Mountbatten!
