Pit Road 1:144
All-New Tooling Based on In-Depth Research of the P-1 Maritime Patrol Aircraft.
Developed as the successor to the P-3C propeller-driven anti-submarine patrol aircraft, the domestically produced jet-powered P-1 first took flight in September 2007. It is the world's first operational aircraft to utilize a fly-by-light control system, designed to reduce electromagnetic interference. The P-1 is equipped with newly developed sonar and radar systems, significantly enhancing its capability to detect submarines and suspicious vessels.
The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) began operating the P-1 in 2013, with current deployments at Atsugi Air Base in Kanagawa Prefecture and Kanoya Air Base in Kagoshima Prefecture. It is also used for pilot and flight crew training at the 203rd Training Squadron, Shimofusa Air Base in Chiba Prefecture.
