Taking advantage of its superior speed, the Mutsuki-class destroyers were sent to resupply islands in the Pacific Ocean. Drum cans and wooden boxes filled with supplies were loaded in the part where the rear torpedo launch tube was removed, but medium-sized freight boats were also loaded in order to increase the transport volume and capacity.
